Ir. Ts. Mohd Faris Ariffin – Hon. Secretary
Specialist (Overhead Line Systems Design & Diagnostic) with Distribution Engineering Center, Engineering Services, Asset Management Department, Distribution Network Division, TNB.
He has been working with TNB for 35 years since 1991 with various departments/units such as Transmission Lines/Substations Maintenance, Distribution System Operator, SCADA & Telecontrol and Distribution Overhead Lines Standards & Engineering Practices with the current department since 2003.
He is a registered professional engineer with practicing certificate (PEPC) with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia, a registered professional technologist (P.Tech) with Malaysia Board of Technologist, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE), Certified Class 1 Professional Drone Practitioner with Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia, holds a Master’s in Electrical Engineering from UNITEN, Malaysia (2006) and graduated from Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff, Arizona, USA in 1991 with a BSc. in Engineering (Electrical). He is also a Member of Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (MIEM) and the Honorary Secretary for Pertubuhan CIRED Malaysia. He has been very active in presenting almost 30 technical conference papers in many local & international conferences worldwide.

Nur Afiqah Binti Abdul Aziz – Deputy Secretary
serves as the Special Officer to the Chief Distribution Network Officer at Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and is the Vice Secretary of the CIRED Malaysia Committee. With a professional background in Electrical Power Engineering (UNITEN) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of South Wales, UK, she brings a strong combination of technical expertise and strategic insight into the power distribution sector.
In her current roles, she provides key support in overseeing the division’s operational and technical initiatives, effectively bridging high-level executive strategy with distribution network excellence. She is also actively involved in supporting executive leadership at TNB and facilitating technical knowledge exchange through the CIRED network. Her focus remains on driving utility innovation and advancing the strategic objectives of the distribution network within an evolving energy landscape.
Dato’ Hisham Hanif bin Khamis – Hon. Treasurer
currently serves as Executive Director of ITEM Industrial Engineering Sdn. Bhd. He also holds leadership roles as Chief Executive Officer of Abadi Ria Sdn. Bhd. and Director of SGB–SMIT Sdn. Bhd., JC Smale Malaysia, and Sabaruddin Othman & Co. He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy and a Management Business Administration (Marketing) qualification, and was conferred the Darjah Indera Mahkota
Pahang (2014) and Darjah Mulia Seri Melaka, D.M.S.M. (2020). He is actively involved in industry and professional bodies, currently serving as Chairman of the Impartiality Committee of TNB Labs Sdn. Bhd., Treasurer of Pertubuhan Cired Malaysia, and President of Persatuan Usahawan Tenaga Malaysia (PUTM). In addition, he is also involved with Ikatan Rela Malaysia (RELA) and serves as a Board Director of Koperasi Jorak, Muar Johor.

Ir. Ts. Ahmad Farid bin Jamil
Ir. Ts. Ahmad Farid bin Jamil is the Chief Engineer (Asset Information) in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 20 years of experience in power distribution, smart grids, digitalisation and enterprise data management. He leads asset information management across the full asset lifecycle, focusing on data standards, governance and system integration to ensure reliable and efficient network operations.
He is also an active member of the CIRED Committee, contributing to digital platform development and technical knowledge sharing, with professional interests in energy transition, smart grids and data-driven network management.
Ir. Mohamad Suhaimi Anuar
Ir. Mohamad Suhaimi Bin Anuar is the Head of Zone Asset (Kuala Lumpur, Zon C2) in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 25 years of experience in distribution network operations, maintenance and asset development.
He oversees asset performance, reliability and lifecycle management within the zone, ensuring safe, reliable and cost-effective electricity supply. His role includes asset maintenance, risk management, regulatory compliance and driving network reliability improvements, while leading engineering teams and supporting capital and operational planning.
He is also an active member of the CIRED Committee, contributing to knowledge sharing, innovation and the development of Malaysia’s distribution sector in alignment with global grid trends.
Ir. Mohd Shafiee Al-Munir
Ir. Mohd Shafiee bin Almunir is the Head of Compliance Management in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 18 years of experience in the power utility sector. His expertise spans compliance governance, risk and regulatory management, service delivery, system performance and electrical protection engineering.
In his current role, he provides strategic leadership in strengthening compliance frameworks, regulatory engagement and governance practices to support resilient and sustainable network operations. He previously served as Project Head for Pulau Tenaga Hijau, leading a strategic green energy initiative aligned with TNB’s sustainability agenda.
He is also the CIRED Head of Membership Drive (Internal), promoting professional engagement, knowledge sharing and industry collaboration within the power distribution community.
Prof. Ir. Dr. Izham Bin Zainal Abidin
Prof. Ir. Dr. Izham Zainal Abidin is Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic & International) at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) and a leading expert in power systems. He holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Strathclyde, specializing in voltage stability.
With over two decades at UNITEN, he has served as Dean of the College of Engineering and Dean of the College of Graduate Studies, strengthening academic excellence and research development. His research focuses on voltage stability, smart grids, power system analysis, and electricity price forecasting. He is also actively involved in advancing Malaysia’s power engineering sector through research, leadership, and engagement with CIRED Malaysia.
Ir. Chew Shee Fuee, KMN
Ir. Chew Shee Fuee, KMN, BSc (Hons) (Strathclyde), PEng, CEng, FIEM, IET & IEEE Member, is a 1st Grade Electrical Engineer (competent up to 500 kV) with over 40 years of experience in electrical engineering.
He is the Managing Director of G H Liew Engineering (1990) Sdn Bhd and Chris Chew Electrical Consultant. A graduate of the University of Strathclyde, he is a licensed Competent Engineer and Service Engineer authorised to conduct electrical testing up to 500 kV.
Ir. Chew has served as President of TEEAM (2001–2005, 2013–2017), Past Chairman of AFEEC (2016–2018) and Past Chairman of IET Malaysia. His expertise includes relay protection, electrical fault investigation, substation supervision, testing and maintenance of high-voltage equipment, and he is an active lecturer in electrical protection systems.
Mohd Zawawi bin Ramli
Mohd Zawawi bin Ramli is the Chief Executive Officer of Power Cables Malaysia Sdn Bhd (PCM), a subsidiary of LTAT and joint venture with Prysmian Group Italy.
With over 30 years of industry experience, he has held key leadership roles in TNB subsidiaries and public-listed companies including Ranhill Power Berhad and EPE Power Corporation Bhd, specialising in business operations, strategic management, project and contract management, market development and risk management.
He holds an MBA from UKM and a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from UTM.
Ir. Ts. Ganesh Kumar Balakrishnan
Ir. Ts. Ganesh Kumar Balakrishnan is a Technical Expert (Switchgear Performance & Diagnostics) in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 15 years of experience in medium-voltage primary equipment, condition-based maintenance and asset performance management.
He provides technical leadership in switchgear diagnostics, performance assessment and the deployment of advanced IoT-based condition monitoring systems, enabling real-time asset health visibility and improved operational efficiency. He has led key initiatives in SF₆ analysis, GIS specification enhancement, and competency development programmes, with professional interests in digitalisation of primary assets, smart substations and data-driven utility transformation.
Prof. Ir. Dr. Zuhaina binti Zakaria
Prof. Ir. Dr. Zuhaina Binti Zakaria is a Professor of Electrical Engineering at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), Malaysia, specialising in power system analysis, energy efficiency, power quality, renewable energy integration and intelligent system restoration. Her work focuses on developing sustainable and resilient power systems through research, postgraduate supervision and publications in indexed journals and IEEE conferences.
She currently serves as Chair of the IEM Women Engineers Section and is actively involved in professional bodies as a Senior Member of IEEE, member of IET, ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer and Honorary Fellow of AFEO.
Ir. Chong Chew Fan
Ir. Chong Chew Fan holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UKM and is a Professional Engineer with Practising Certificate (PEPC), ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE) and Registered Energy Manager (REM). He previously served as President of ACEM and Chairman of the Electrical Engineering Technical Division (EETD) of IEM.
With over 20 years of experience, he specialises in electrical and instrumentation design, project management and technical consultancy across infrastructure, sustainable buildings, water systems, transportation and renewable energy projects. He is actively involved in IEC, DSM, Energy Commission and GBI technical committees, with a strong focus on sustainable and low-carbon engineering solutions.
Mr. Lau Kim Swee
Lau Kim Swee is the Chief Executive Officer of Syarikat SESCO Berhad (SESCO), the utility arm of Sarawak Energy, appointed in 2016. He joined SESCO in 1988 after graduating in Electrical and Computer Systems Engineering from Monash University, Melbourne.
With over 30 years of experience in utility operations, he oversees end-to-end functions including transmission, system operations, distribution, rural electrification, retail and asset management. Under his leadership, SESCO has strengthened operational excellence through process simplification, digitalisation and smart grid initiatives aligned with the Digital Utility 2025 vision.
Ir. Mohd Jufri Bin Ismail
Ir. Mohd Jufri Bin Ismail is a Senior Engineer (Substation Design) in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 17 years of experience in LV substation design, 33kV overhead line maintenance and SEAL metering.
He provides technical leadership in LV substation design and compliance across the asset lifecycle, focusing on specifications, reliability and digital integration. He is also an Internal Auditor for CIRED, supporting annual activities, technical knowledge sharing and industry engagement.
Shahida Badrol
Shahida Badrol is the Senior Manager (Risk Management) in the Distribution Network Division of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), with over 20 years of experience in electrical power engineering, risk management and business continuity management.
She provides assurance and oversight on policies, procedures and internal controls, ensuring regulatory compliance while advising on governance and control requirements across business and technical operations.
